CASE STUDY

Selwyn Snow Resort

Along with the complete loss of the Selwyn Snow Resort, the catastrophic 2019/2020 NSW Bushfires destroyed 65% of the 30KM overhead powerlines that supplied the area. With challenging terrain and winter quickly setting in it would be a long time before mains power was restored.

The first priority was to provide a reliable power supply to enable the cleanup and reconstruction works to commence. Genplus installed a modular power system to increase fuel efficiency during low load and provide redundancy in the event of a generator failure.
Operating 24/7 in challenging conditions, our generators ensured that critical heating, pumps and lighting always remained operational.

With the resort rebuilt our attention turned to the opening day; the state-of-the-art chairlifts and snowmaking systems, along with the expansive Selwyn Centre, required an increased power supply. As this equipment was spread across a considerable area it was determined that a High Voltage generator system feeding into the existing Power Lines would be most appropriate

Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools our engineering team developed a scale model of the Generator System to ensure optimal use of the limited space available. With approvals in place and final customer signoff it was time to begin delivering the equipment.

The third day of installation brought unprecedented early snowfall – with opening day looming our electricians worked through and delivered the system ahead of schedule to a very satisfied customer.
